The 2004-05 Innovation Report focuses on strengthening Australia's ability to undertake research, accelerating the commercial application of ideas, developing and retaining Australian skills, National Research Priorities, key institutions relating to science and innovation, and informing the future. The 2004-05 report has shifted to more quantitative output reporting for the Government’s programmes and initiatives, reflecting that the effects of "Backing Australia's Ability" are now starting to become apparent.
