Quality Training Concepts
Experience:
I have edited numerous documents for national publication in the VET Sector. (Many of which are accessible from the DEEWR website.) Most recently, I edited the web version of the Training Package Development Handbook. I have written various Style Guides and templates, and provided professional development sessions to assist organisations and project personnel to develop a consistent editing and writing style. This can minimise work in editing documents later on in projects. I support that kind of capacity building—early on, rather than the need for more intrusive intervention once a project is nearing its end. This not only saves time and money but also builds the capacity for future work in-house. In addition, I have edited soft and hard copy versions of a range of Training Package components and support materials. I am very aware of the need for a timely and responsive turnaround in project work. As a micro-business I tend to take on manageable projects so I can continue to provide timely services.

Rosemary Nicholls and Associates
Experience:
I have twelve years experience as a professional freelance editor and have worked on a broad range of publications, mostly in the VET sector. This includes editing all or part of nine Training Packages for six Industry Skills Councils.
I have been involved in consultations with a number of Industry Skills Councils from the early stages of Training Package review and have worked closely with ISC personnel and developers in formulating unit of competency templates and content, style guides and writing and editing rules. I have also contributed to the development of the TLISC TUPS database of units of competency by using the database and commenting on content, formatting and useability.
I have now extended this role to include training ISC staff in the editing process and the skills required to effectively and efficiently edit Training Packages.
Prior to commencing my business I worked for twenty years in the TAFE system in a number of work roles including as Manager of Student and Information Services at Kangan Batman TAFE. This experience has given me a good understanding of the VET sector, and has enabled me to work with a broad range of people in a consultation, peer and supervisory capacity.
