Box Hill balancing act brings national recognition
14 October 2004
A local training provider that’s balancing the needs of its students, staff and industry partners is in line for a national training award.
Box Hill Institute is a finalist in the Large Training Provider of the Year category of the 2004 Australian Training Awards to be held in Melbourne next month.
To improve employment outcomes for clients, Box Hill Institute aims to equip students with skills and knowledge relevant to the global marketplace and enhance their networks and alliances.
“Quality is intrinsic to the Institute, essential to the health of our client relationships, the effectiveness of our services and the success of our clients,” said Box Hill marketing manager, Tony Kelly.
According to ANTA chairman, David Hind, Australia’s key to keeping ahead of international competitors is world-class training providers who meet the skill needs of businesses and individuals.
“Providers like Box Hill Institute of TAFE are breaking new ground in delivering quality training when, how and where businesses, students and the community want it,” said Mr Hind.
Box Hill Institute is one of four Victorian organisations vying for national honours at the awards. Melbourne’s Pivot Point Hair Design, Peninsula Vocational Education and Training from Mt Eliza, and Crown Ltd – Services of Melbourne suburb, Tullamarine will line up against competitors from around the country.
Four students will also be flying the Victorian flag. Ballarat apprentice Andrew Dower, Sandra Stewart of Mildura, Nullawarre’s Claire Wallace and Gary Warenham of Frankston South are all in the running for a national title.
The 2004 Australian Training Awards will be held at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne on Thursday, 18 November 2004. The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of apprentices, trainees and students as well as the contribution of enterprises and training providers to skilling Australia.
The Australian Training Awards are hosted by the Australian National Training Authority and supported by the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training.
