The agreed Framework for the New National Training System states that mechanisms for engaging students will be built into the national training system. Client and student advisory arrangements are to be established to:
- engage with students;
- ensure the views of all students, particularly disadvantaged students, are considered in training planning and delivery; and
- support ongoing high level advice on the needs of all learners, particularly people with a disability and Indigenous Australians, towards improved training outcomes.
In January and February 2006, stakeholders were invited to have their say by making a submission on advisory arrangements for:
- All clients and students
- Indigenous Australians
- People with a disability
In late February and early March 2006, more than 240 stakeholders participated in consultation forums, which were held in Sydney, Cairns, Darwin, Perth and Adelaide.
The consultation report is available below:
The Action Group is continuing to progress its work and plans to provide recommendations to the National Senior Officials Committee in late June 2006.
