An organisation wanting to become a registered training organisation (RTO) should first contact its state or territory registering body for information about their processes.
If an organisation delivers or assesses in more than one state or territory, registration should be obtained from the state or territory where most of the training or assessment occurs, or where the organisation’s head office is located.
To become registered, an organisation must comply with the AQTF 2007 Essential Standards for Registration.
Resources are available to help organisations prepare for registration. Contact your state and territory registering body for details.
To apply, the organisation completes the application form and pays the fee required by the registering body. For details of these, contact your state and territory registering body.
The registering body then evaluates the organisation, its operations and types of delivery to ensure compliance with the standards.
Registration under the AQTF is for up to five years and applies nationally.
If an application for registration is not approved, the organisation can appeal to the registering body, which will advise the organisation of its appeals process.
Registering bodies are required to disclose any conflict of interest and keep confidential any information provided by the registering organisation.
