Bridging Pathways aims to make it easier for people with a disability to get:
- information about training, and
- access to training.
Bridging Pathways also aims to:
- provide training staff with the skills they need to support students with a disability, and
- increase collaboration between private and public sector agencies (particularly job related services).
The Australian Disability Training Advisory Council (ADTAC) oversaw the implementation of Bridging Pathways. ADTAC reported to the ANTA Board and was jointly chaired by a member of the ANTA Board and a person with a disability. It included representatives from all stakeholders including states and territories, the Australian Government and the disability sector.
With ANTA functions having transferred to the Department of Education, Science and Training on 1 July 2005, ADTAC had their final meeting on 7 June 2005.
An action group, endorsed by the State and Territory CEOs, will be established to progress the best way forward to ensure an effective voice for all learners in the new national training system.
