National strategies

Strategies agreed by all states, territories and the Australian Government help to achieve the goals of the vocational education and training system across Australia.

On 22 October 2004 the Prime Minister announced that ANTA would be abolished and its functions would be brought into the Department of Education, Science and Training from 1 July 2005.   A Ministerial Council on Vocational Education will be established to ensure continued harmonisation of a national system of standards, assessment and accreditation with goals agreed in a Commonwealth-State Funding Agreement.
