People working in the training business are at the forefront of implementing Shaping our Future, Australia's national strategy for vocational education and training (VET) for 2004-2010.
Shaping our Future spells out a number of challenges for training organisations in meeting the needs of industry, communities and individuals. These include:
- engaging with business and the community
- being flexible, innovative and client-focused
- reducing barriers to learning
- building the capability and capacity of VET professionals
- making learning pathways seamless
- building international markets.
Stay tuned to the strategy webpage for progress reports on related work at the national level.
In the meantime, below is a small taste of resources you can use for the first two of these areas.

Show your staff and colleagues what Shaping our Future means for them by giving them a printed copy of the strategy and the first action plan for 2004 and 2005.
You can also use these slides (pps 857k) to explain the key features of the strategy and start a dialogue about what it might mean for you.
