On 22 October 2004 the Prime Minister announced that ANTA would be abolished and its functions would be brought into the Department of Education, Science and Training from 1 July 2005. A Ministerial Council on Vocational Education will be established to ensure continued harmonisation of a national system of standards, assessment and accreditation with goals agreed in a Commonwealth-State Funding Agreement.
This page will be up-dated when legislation regarding the new national training system is passed by the Australian Parliament.
