Participation in information technology and telecommunications in education and training

The Participation in Information and Technology and Telecommunications in Education and Training (IT&T) study was undertaken by Global Learning Services in September-November 1999 for the Department of Education, Training and Youth Affairs.

The study was undertaken in a context marked by the emergence of the Information Economy and by concern that Australia faced serious skill shortages in the crucial IT&T industry in a context where there was a growing demand for these skills.  The question therefore arose as to whether these shortfalls could be met, in part at least, by achieving greater participation by the groups under represented in IT courses and careers.
