Please note: Not all publications published before 2002 will be found through the publications A to Z list or the publication search.  To locate pre-2002 publications there are two additional search options, namely the Advanced Search or the Archive Search.

The report examines the perceptions of young people and of their parents regarding vocational and technical education (VTE) participation and the triggers that might lead to this participation.

Contextualising Teaching and Learning: a guide for VET teachers

This is a practical guide for VET trainers who work with a diverse range of learners and contains user-friendly ways to contextualise learning in a range of ‘classrooms’ – from an educational institution or factory floor to online. It provides assistance to VET practitioners who work with Training Packages and are seeking to implement learner-centred, flexible and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Also included in the guide is a range of professional development strategies and activities that will assist trainers to fully utilise this resource.

Adapting to Change: working with shared technology

This guide contains practical learner-centred teaching and learning strategies that can be used both in the classroom and in the workplace. The strategies will engage learners in actively acquiring and developing skills and knowledge in shared technology applicable to a range of industries. The resource also includes a range of professional development strategies and activities that will assist trainers to fully utilise this resource.

2004 Annual National Report of the Australian Vocational Education and Training System

The report is the national accountability mechanism, reporting to the Australian Parliament on the operation of the vocational education and training system and reporting against the national strategy and national priorities, including key performance measures.

Australian technical colleges: a discussion paper    

The Australian Government has identified 24 locations across the country for the establishment of Australian Technical Colleges to further address the pressing skill shortages which Australia currently faces in a number of traditional trades.  This paper is intended to inform organisations interested in establishing one of these technical colleges.

Skilling Australia - New Directions for Vocational Education and Training    

The Directions Paper Skilling Australia - New Directions for Vocational Education and Training sets out possible models for a new national training system from 1 July 2005 when responsibilities of the Australian National Training Authority transfer to the Department of Education, Science and Training.
