Agrifood Industries – Industry Skills Report

This report outlines the findings of a high level review of the skills and workforce issues facing the agrifood industry.

Abstract

This Industry Skills Report is the product of consultations between the Department of Education, Science and Training, the Agri-food Industry Skills Council and a diverse group of stakeholders within the agrifood industry in all states and territories.

The purpose of the report is to assist the industry, government policy-makers and training providers to understand and address the issues and challenges affecting the agrifood industry’s skill base.

The report provides an overview of the agrifood industry, an analysis of issues which impact upon the demand and supply of skills within the industry, and a picture of participation, attainment and expenditure trends in vocational and technical education.

Against this background, this report recommends strategies to address a broad range of issues driving current and future skills and workforce needs, with a focus on the role of training.
