Training Packages A Training Package is... ...a set of nationally endorsed standards and qualifications for recognising and assessing people's skills. A Training Package describes the skills and knowledge needed to perform effectively in the workplace. They do not prescribe how an individual should be trained. Teachers and trainers develop learning strategies - the "how" - depending on learners' needs, abilities and circumstances. A Training Package is developed by... ...working with people and organisations in industry, or industry sectors, to identify what skills and training they need. Packages are usually developed by industry advisory bodies and sometimes by individual enterprises, if they have very specific needs. Developers of packages have to prove that they have consulted extensively with industry and have support for the package before it is endorsed. Training Packages go through a quality assurance process and then are endorsed by the National Training Quality Council (NTQC) and placed on the National Training Information Service (NTIS) . In March 2004, there were 72 endorsed Training Packages. Nine of these were enterprise Training Packages, developed by specific enterprises for their needs only.
