myfuture.edu.au – Australia’s new online Career Exploration Service

myfuture.edu.au is a world standard interactive, online career exploration service which will be launched by the Commonwealth Minister on 22 July 2002. The service will be freely available on the Internet.

myfuture.edu.au is aimed at all Australians wishing to explore their career options, with a particular emphasis on 16 to 24 year old students. Individuals are able to explore their skills and interests, identify their career ideas, develop their career plan and research options for further study or training. They can access information on industries, small business, courses, training providers, financial support and much more.

myfuture.edu.au is a joint initiative of the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments and provides three major types of service:

The Facts: this section provides comprehensive career information and statistics drawn from a variety of data sources about occupations, education and training options, industries, regional labour markets, income data, employment conditions, sources of support and financial assistance for study. This section also provides numerous articles on career related subjects.

My Guide: this section provides an individualised career exploration model that assists users with career decision-making. It helps users to identify their interests and capabilities, to match these with potential occupations and to plan how to achieve career goals. Users are able to specify their age and/or stage of life and have appropriate options presented.

Assist Others: this section helps parents, guardians, influencers (such as youth workers, coaches and cultural and religious leaders), careers advisors and teachers with providing support and guidance for those individuals making career decisions.

myfuture.edu.au also offers:

  • Careers News and Views, which provides regular up-to-date information relating to careers events and initiatives.
  • Contact Us facilities to enable users to provide feedback, to ask questions, and to submit information on careers events and initiatives.
  • Careers Search to provide direct access to any information contained in, or accessible from, myfuture.
  • Help facilities to provide users with assistance in the use of the site.

myfuture.edu.au is Australia’s invaluable new one-stop career exploration destination.
