Are you a ‘Quiet Achiever’ in VET in Schools?

The VETnetwork Excellence Awards for Professionals working with VET in Schools has been established to celebrate “the quiet achiever”, at a very practical level, of VET in Schools professionals. This award has been introduced to reward innovative practices and excellence in the field. The award will publicly recognise the efforts of an individual’s involvement in the practical day to day work involved in delivering high quality VET in Schools programmes.

These awards are a new initiative being introduced at the VETnetwork Australia National Conference: Enterprising People and Partnerships: Vocational Education and Careers for a Changing World being held in Brisbane from 23-25 October at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Finalists will be selected, based on the official nomination form, from each State and Territory and will receive full sponsorship to the 2002 VETnetwork Australia National Conference (including travel, accommodation, conference registration and conference dinner ticket) as their prize, together with a plaque to commemorate their achievement. The national winner will receive an additional prize.

VET professionals are encouraged to nominate colleagues who they think have made a significant contribution as a ‘quiet achiever’ to the VET in schools area. These awards are open to all professionals working in VET in Schools and are not limited to school staff.

The inaugural awards are sponsored by the Commonwealth with the Enterprise and Career Education Foundation (ECEF) providing the prizes and the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) sponsoring the winner from each State and Territory to the National Conference (registration, travel and accommodation package).

People must be nominated using the official nomination form which can be obtained from charles@consultfleetwood.com.au.

Nominations close Monday 12 August 2002 with State/Territory winners to be advised by 13 September 2002.
